It contains a compilation of essays on French mapping of the Americas, California as an island, Smith's map of Virginia and its many derivative, marine surveys of James Cook, City Plans, Jansson-Visscher maps of New England, mapping the Great Lakes, and maps of America in the various editions of Ortelius' Theatrum. 519 pp., with 179 b/w plates. First edition, hardbound in green cloth with original dust jacket, Holland Press Cartographica 2, London, 1980.

2) Maps and Map-Makers is the sixth edition of this standard work that is useful for any collector's library.
