A fine copper plate engraving of the island shows topography, locations of numerous towns and other details. Scope includes the Turks and Caicos Islands, with parts of Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Cuba and the Bahamas, all of Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Samana is shown as a French-controlled island, and text in the center of Santo Domingo notes that gold, silver, and copper mines are in this region. Filled with place names and details of mountains and watershed. Rococo-style title cartouche with four distance scales below.

Issued folding, now pressed. Printed on thick hand laid paper with original margins and watermark. Toned on one fold. At the biding trim is a circular binding tear with a little discoloration, closed on verso with tissue repair.
