Scarce small map of Asia based on the cartography of Johann Schreiber. Japan appears as a large landmass separated by the Fretum de Vries from Compagnie Land. A string of prominent islands stretch south from Japan to Nova Britania and Nova Guinea. The map is embellished with a decorative title cartouche and a compass rose. A panel of German text at right describes the major regions and there is additional text at bottom.
Good impression and original color. Damp stains in margins, affecting plate mark but not the map. Tiny pinhole in unengraved portion of the map.
