"[Lot of 4 - Washington D.C.]", U.S. Government
Subject: District of Columbia
Period: 1894 (dated)
Color: Printed Color
A nice set of thematic maps. The first three maps are detailed street plans, all drawn on the same base map (27 x 27.5"). The title of these first three maps begins "Map of the City of Washington" and continues: 1) Showing the Varieties of Pavements; 2) Showing Sewers; and 3) Showing Water Mains. The first map is particularly handsome as it uses seven colors to indicate the type of road surface. The fourth map, "Map Showing Suburban Subdivisions of the District of Columbia" (26.5 x 22") is mostly black and white with green overprinting to highlight parks, observatories, institutes, asylums, the Soldier's Home, and other government facilities.
All folding, as issued. A few fold intersection splits and the occasional fold with light toning, else very good. Short split on the first map along one fold.
