A fine Covens & Mortier edition of Jansson's map centered on the mountainous region of today's Dolmiti Bellunes Park, northwest of Venice, and follows the course of the Piave River. The fortified towns of Pieve di Cadore, Belluno, and Feltre and located. There is excellent detail of mountains, forests, watershed and the sheet is filled with dozens of small named villages. Embellished with a bold title cartouche and a second cartouche with distance scale surmounted by a winged lion, the symbol of the Republic of Venice and the symbol of the Evangelist Mark.
Dark impression with original coloring and full margins. Extra fold across map and one insignificant spot at upper left, still very good example. Some soiling or foxing in margins.
