"[Lot of 2] Die Statt Solothurn [and] Von dem Wiselapurgerow", Munster, Sebastian
Period: 1578 (circa)
Color: Black & White
Pair of maps of towns in Switzerland. First is a double-page bird's-eye view of Solothurn, 12" x 9.5". Solothurn is considered by many to be the most beautiful baroque city in Switzerland. With a smaller wood block map of Ernburg on verso (7.5 x 3.5"). The second sheet is a bird's-eye view surrounding the northwestern town of Biel, 6" x 6" on a sheet measuring 8.3 x 12.5". Biel claims it is the only town in Switzerland where French and German are both spoken on an equal basis.
The former has a little offsetting in blank margins and show through from verso. The latter is very good.
