Decorative map of eastern & central Africa depicting the legendary Christian kingdom of Prester John. Based on an earlier map by Blaeu, there is a fair amount of detail on the eastern coast, reflecting Colonial trading interests. Below the equator there are the two large lakes where the Nile originates. The map is decorated with a title cartouche surrounded by native figures, a decorative scale of miles, and elephants, ostriches and a monkey in the interior.
