An uncommon map of the continent based on De Wit's map of 1680; retaining both the geography (with all its fictitious details) and decorative cartouche. Gone though, are the other decorative elements (wildlife, ships and sea monsters), reflecting the newer style of the eighteenth century. The colorful cartouche includes Moorish traders, Black Africans, a child riding a large elephant and two lions reclining on the title block.

References: cf Norwich #57.

Superb impression and lovely original color. Couple of minor stains in margins, one just entering border at bottom, and a expert repair on a marginal tear.
