A rare vellum leaf from a very early printed Book of Hours from the transitional period in which printers incorporated the manuscript conventions of historiated initials and illustrations into their work. The decorations and text are printed but the initials (one small and one large 2-line initial) are hand painted and illuminated with gold leaf. The text is from the Gospel, Matthew 2.
