35 x 25 inches
88.9 x 63.5 cm
Large and very finely engraved and detailed chart of the continent and the island of Madagascar. Details include the Grand Desert, a nearly blank interior, oasis, roads and caravan routes. Several insets depict islands including the Canaries, Ascension, and St. Helene. Coloring indicates the colonial land holdings of seven European nations. A very handsome chart with decorative borders and fancy titling in script and Victorian-style letting.
Beautiful impression and coloring. Near fine with just a little surface soiling.
