This is the first American edition, with corrections and additions by Samuel L. Knapp, published and printed by Samuel Walker in Boston. Two volumes, bound as one. Hardbound in full leather, embossed with gilt, marbled endpapers, Vol. I 427 pp., Vol. II 508 pp., index. Fine portrait of George Washington as frontispiece to Volume I. All 40 plates and the nice map of North America are present, though foxed.

Most pages and plates with light scattered foxing. Binding rubbed and worn with some cracking at spine. Pages and signatures tight.
