"[Lot of 4] Map of Public Surveys in California to accompany Report of Surveyor Genl.", General Land Office
Period: 1857-61 (dated)
Color: Black & White
30 x 36 inches
76.2 x 91.4 cm
Matched set of public survey maps from 1857, 1859, 1860 and 1861. Together they show the progress of public surveys in the state and provide a fascinating study of the survey progress, settlement and development over a five-year period. The map of 1859 includes a list of 196 private grants 'finally surveyed', 340 are listed on the 1860 map, and 411 on the 1861 map. Sizes vary slightly. A terrific find for the California collector.
Issued folding, now all backed with archival tissue. Toned along most folds, else very good.
