Rare sea chart of western Africa from Guinea to the Gabon River including the Grain Coast, Gold Coast, Ivory Coast and Slave Coast. The ancient Castel di Mino (Elmina), center of the gold trade, is located. Includes a large inset of the Cameroons and Gabon with the Island of St. Thomas. Dudley, a skilled mathematician and navigator, was exiled from England and settled in Florence where his atlas was published. The chart, beautifully engraved by Antonio Lucini, is embellished with a strapwork title cartouche, large compass rose, a sailing ship and elegant calligraphy. Printed on two joined sheets as issued.

Overall very good with a fine sharp impression. Toned along centerfold with a few small repairs on verso.
