Nice pair of matched maps that show all of India. Both surrounded by fancy borders and numerous engraved vignettes. Maps were drawn and engraved by J. Rapkin with the vignettes by Wray & Kernot. The northern map (12.5 x 9.7") includes Nepal, Sikhim and Bhutan. Lovely vignettes around map include: Tiger Hunt; Ruins, Old Delhi; Car of Juggernaut; The British Residency, Hyderabad; Seal of the Indian Company. The southern map (9.2 x 12.5") details eastern and southern India and Sri Lanka. The map is surrounded by uncolored vignettes including Shuhur Jeypoor, Tomb of Sultan Mahomed Shah at Bejapoor, The Government House at Calcutta.

Fine impressions and original outline coloring with good margins. Vignettes and borders uncolored, as issued. Both with light toning along centerfold, else very good.
