Attractive early map of the newly formed United States, acknowledging independence prior to official recognition. The states extend west to the Mts. Allagany and beyond that are many Indian names including the Contree des Six Nations. Map is surrounded in a rococo-style border that was printed from a separate copper plate. Printed on the distinctive bluish paper unique to French atlases of this period.
