Very decorative world map based on the Visscher-Berchem map of 1658, but with the addition of the westward stretching coastline of North America above the Island of California. Two astronomical diagrams are placed between the hemispheres showing the Copernican and Ptolemaic solar systems. In the corners are beautifully rendered scenes of traditional mythology representing the four elements Fire, Air, Water and Earth.
