A lovely, hand-colored, copper engraving of the state funeral of Lord Michiel de Ruyter at Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam. De Ruyter was a famous admiral of the Dutch navy, who spent much of his life fighting the Spanish in the 80-years war, the Barbary pirates, and finally the English and French. He died fighting the French, together with his old enemies, the Spaniards. The print depicts the huge funeral procession with a numbered key in Dutch text below the print that identifies the mourners.
