Handsome map of the eastern part of the Roman Empire. It extends from Corsica and Sardinia through the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf. The map is well engraved in Sanson's scientific style and embellished only with a small title cartouche above a block of French text. The map was originally issued in 1637; this issue with that date erased from the plate and replaced with 1703 along with the text block.

Condition: B

Old paper repair of bottom centerfold and a few small tears and chips on edges of wide margins. Soft extraneous folds right of center.

Estimate: $200 - $250
