Finely engraved and beautiful map of Holland with two insets of the Dutch commercial empire. The first is of the northeast U.S. and includes a miniature view of New Amsterdam. The other is of the East Indies with a similar view of the Dutch trading capital of Batavia. Large cartouche with putti, sea maidens and Neptune. The title's reference to the Batavian Republic indicates this is a late edition. A visually appealing map that shows better than the condition suggests.

Condition: B

Beautiful original color including the cartouche, which is unusual for this period. Toned with scattered foxing. Reinforced along edges on verso with white paper. Tissue repair of centerfold and of small area in lower margin.

Estimate: $550 - $750
