Lot of two nice maps of the Atlantic Islands. The first one was done in 1836 by the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge, and was published by Baldwin & Cradock. This one is composed of sixteen small charts of various islands. Included among these are the Azores, Faroes, Medeira Isles, Canary Islands, Falkland Islands and the Cape de Verde Isles. There is an interesting note about the tiny Fernando Noronha Island as Convict Island, which it was from about 1777 to the beginning of the twentieth century. The second map, by Mason & Payne, 1890 is identical in layout to the SDUK map with the addition of a color key for colonial possessions and some changes to bring it up to date as far as population and political holdings.
