Antonio de Herrera Y Tordelisllas was the official historian to the King of Spain. He compiled a history of the Spanish conquests in the Americas that included this map of Peru. Cajamarca (Caxamalca), where Pizarro captured Atahualpa, is shown in the north. Ayacucho (Guamanga) and Cuzco are located between the Eastern and Western Cordilleras of the Andes. Although simply engraved, it is a nice example of scarce Spanish cartography.
