A superb manuscript bifolio in a bold gothic hand on vellum, written in the 1500's in Flanders or the North of France for the use of Chichester Cathedral in England for the feast day of St. Thomas, Bishop and Martyr [probably Thomas Beckett ]. This leaf is part of the Gospels for the Feast Days of the year; the first leaf has part of Luke 19, the parable of the pounds, beginning with verse 12. The second leaf relates the story of the Massacre of the Innocents. The decoration is a fine example of the style of the Flemish illuminators: large acanthus leaves, flowers and a large initial "I" in bright colors. The initial is the beginning of the reading of the day, St. Luke.
