"Orbis Vetus Juxta Strabonem", Cellarius, Christophorus
Subject: Ancient World
Period: 1686 (circa)
Color: Black & White
11.5 x 6.8 inches
29.2 x 17.3 cm
This map of the ancient world is divided into seven climatic zones. The Asian continent is severely truncated and there is no Japan. The map is nicely composed in a semi-circular projection with a ribbon draped title cartouche at left and a vignette of Strabo using a huge globe at right. At top is a strange and interesting vignette showing a man lounging on top of a prison made into the side of a mountain.
Couple of tiny rust spots, else very good.
