Fine copper engraved map based on Blaeu's map of the region showing the mountains, rivers, forests and settlements. Good interior detail covering Uruguay with part of present-day Argentina and the Rio de la Plata. Buenos Aires is but a tiny X on the chart. Great title cartouche surrounded by natives in ceremonial costumes and weaponry and animals with another cartouche flanked by putti. Ships and sea battles embellish the ocean.
Light pencil drawing in margin, still very fine.
