This significant collection is the first publication undertaken by Arthur H. Clark after forming the company. Interesting subject matter that includes volumes on Paths of the Mound-Building Indians, Daniel Boone's Wilderness Road, Military Roads, Waterways of Westward Expansion, Pioneer Roads, Great American Canals etc., and an Index Volume. First edition. Each volume was limited to approximately 1000 copies. This set is complete with 16 matching volumes. Each with numerous illustrations, portraits, maps and ads. A rare find in exceptional condition. Blue cloth with gilt spine. Top edge gilt, other pages untrimmed.

Owners name in quill on all title pages and some forepages. Very light rubbing and a little sunning to some spines, else fine.
