Very decorative world map based on the Visscher-Berchem map of 1658, but with the addition of the westward stretching coastline of North America above the ISLAND OF CALIFORNIA. Two astronomical diagrams are placed between the hemispheres, one showing a sun-centered solar system and the other earth-centered. In the corners are scenes of traditional mythology representing the four elements of Fire, Air, Water and Earth.

Expert repairs of some small tears and remargined at sides with some superb facsimile of image in corners. Couple of very faint spots in map.
