Set of fine steel engravings from the first edition of this work, issued by subscription in several parts with paper wrappers. This is a near complete set, 112 of 116 plates. William Bartlett, one of the best and most respected artists of his time, traveled widely through the pre-Civil War United States, and this is his most famous work. The plates are detailed and finely drawn and include scenes of country-side, cities, town, ports, etc.
A few plates have minor foxing, but on the whole are very good to fine.
