Interesting copper engraved map directly based on Cornelis Claesz map of 1598. A large compass rose dominates the North Atlantic with good portions of Europe, Africa, and the Americas included. The map illustrates the text of the book, which relates the travels of Sir Francis Drake, Thomas Cavendish, and Sir Walter Raleigh. Virginia is prominent, illustrating the account of Drake's landing at Roanoke Island in 1586. On a fully sheet of German text, verso blank.
