This scholarly work by Charles Colcock Jones, Jr. focuses on the Native American tribes in the south, with a particular focus on Georgia, from the time of the Europeans' earliest contact. This classic work includes 30 photo-lithographic plates and three woodcuts within the text. The plates depict the sites of several Native American mounds that had been excavated and the artifacts that were found within, such as spearheads, knives, and bowls. 8vo. xvi, 530 pp., 30 plates. Hardbound in brown cloth with gilt embossed image on front cover and spine, and gilt titling on spine.

Condition: B+

The plates are clean and bright in near fine (A) condition. The text is lightly toned (B+ condition) and some of the pages are uncut. The hinges are starting, and the covers have a few small chips and abrasions. The spine is sunned with some small abrasions and chipping at the top and bottom.
