"United States of America - A Map of History and Other Best Pleasures and Treasures",

This pictorial map of the United States was published by G.P. Dicus, who encouraged readers to "Travel America - learn about your country and the rich historical heritage of the U.S.A." It is filled with "Pleasures & Treasures" in red print, which were "selected on the basis of their national reputation for hospitality and loyalty to the public." A few of these pleasures include the Watergate Hotel (DC), The Homestead (VA), Cattlemen's Steakhouse (TX), Broadmoor Hotel (CO), and Disneyland (CA) to name a few. Historical facts, events, and illustrations fill the remainder of the map and the coastline. An additional 81 historical references create the border and are keyed to the map. The map is embellished with classical elements including a decorative title cartouche and several scroll cartouches. An overall informative and decorative map capturing the rich history of the United States.
