This uncommon map concentrates on the source of the Nile in a lake called Tzana, Dembea (Lake Tana). Coronelli is considered the first mapmaker to accurately depict the source of the Blue Nile. The map is graphically illustrated with large mountain ranges. There are extensive notations throughout. Two large garland-style cartouches feature the title and six distance scales. An inset map at right shows the origins of the Nile on the Ptolemaic model.
