"Daniae Regni Typus [on sheet with] Cimbricae Chersonesi nunc Iutiae Descriptio, Auctore Marco Iordano", Ortelius, Abraham

This sheet includes two spectacularly engraved maps of Denmark, first issued in 1595. The maps are filled with place names but with limited watershed and topographical information. The seas are fully engraved in stipple and embellishments include a sea monster, a large sailing ship and several strapwork cartouches. The right-hand map has delicate filigree border surrounds. Latin text on verso.

Condition: A

A sharp impression on a bright sheet with the crossed arrows watermark commonly found on Ortelius maps. There is a stain in the top margin, not affecting the image.
