This is the complete set of auction catalogs for the famous collection of Americana formed by Thomas Streeter, sold by Parke-Bernet Galleries in 1967. Considered one of the five most important sales of the last half of the twentieth century, the catalogues are now considered a standard reference for Americana. Each volume covers a different set of subjects, including discovery and exploration; American wars; various states, territories, and regions; the Gold Rush; maps; literature and the arts; and much more. The seven volumes list 4421 items. An index volume is also included, complete with prices for each lot. Profusely illustrated and indexed. Hardbound in original paper-wrapped boards, with the index volume hardbound in blue cloth, large 8vo.
