This map of the Black Sea was made by Ortelius on the basis of modern information presented in Mercator's maps of Southeast Europe, as well as classical sources. It is embellished with strapwork title and scale cartouches. This is the second state with Latin text on verso, published in 1618.

References: Van den Broecke #213.2; Zacharakis #1623.

Condition: A

A nice example with very minor soiling and some tiny chips and tears along the edges of the sheet that do not enter the image and most of which have been archivally repaired. Narrow side margins, as issued, but still ample for framing.
