Extremely detailed map of the vicinity of Stuttgart, which is depicted at center. The map covers the densely populated region and extends to include Heilbronn, Ulm and Pforzheim. This map replaced a smaller map of Wirtenberg in Ortelius' atlas in 1579 and is credited to Georg Gadner. The title is enclosed in a large strapwork cartouche and two monkeys adorn the distance scale. French text on verso.
References: Van den Broecke #113.2.
A dark impression on a sheet bearing the horn watermark commonly found on Ortelius maps. There is light toning along the edges of the sheet, a few spots confined to the blank margins, and a manuscript page number below the neatline.
