Written by John W. Reps, an expert on the history of urban planning and author of Views and Viewmakers of Urban America and Cities on Stone: Nineteenth Century Lithograph Images of the Urban West, the book collects over 100 illustrations of Washington, D.C. from the earliest days of the nation up to the date of the book's publication. It includes an introduction, two appendices (covering biographical notes on the folio text authors and notes on printmaking, respectively), bibliography, and index. 297 pp. Hardbound in grey cloth with gilt title on the spine and an illustrated dust jacket.
Contents tight with just a few tiny spots on the covers. There is a short tear on the spine of the dust jacket and some very minor shelf wear.
