This is an uncommon German edition of Carey & Lea's map of Illinois with related text to the side and below the map image. The atlas was issued in six editions in English, French and German between 1822 and 1827. County development is confined to the southern portion of the state, with a large Bounty Lands in the northwestern part of the state. County configurations are current as of 1819, with Crawford being formed from Clark County. On a full folio sheet that measures 17.8 x 16.2".
A nice impression on a clean sheet with a bit of faint offsetting, else fine.
