This spectacular plan shows Rome during the reign of Septimius Severo, Emperor from 193 to 211. The magnificent architecture of the city is shown pictorially. The map was drawn by Jacob Toornvliet, engraved by Pierre Philippe and published in Johannis Rosini's history of ancient Rome.

Condition: A

A crisp impression with lovely color. Issued folding, now pressed with one tiny hole near center and marginal soiling. A binding trim at bottom right has been replaced with old paper, and an adjacent 1.5" binding tear has been closed on verso with archival tape.
