This charming 152-page guide book for the visitor to the historic battlefield at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The book is thoroughly illustrated with dozens of beautiful woodcut illustrations showing scenes of the countryside. Bound at the front is a large (34.8 x 15.5") panoramic bird's-eye-view of the Gettysburg Battlefield. This lithographic view, drawn by Bachelder, and printed by the Endicott Co. of New York, bears the engraved signatures of several military officers and educators from Pennsylvania College. The highly detailed view pinpoints military positions and movements over the three days of battle, and features a plan of the Soldiers National Cemetery with a key to identify the sections of the cemetery by state. An engraved statement from G. Meade provides testimony to the accuracy of the view. View and text are enclosed with light blue paper wrappers.
