This travel guide covering the western United States includes two folding maps by Bancroft including Bancroft's Map of California and Nevada 1887 (11 x 13") and Bancroft's Map of Washington Territory and Oregon 1887 (10.7 x 14.3"). Each of the maps is highly detailed and shows cities and towns, railroads, wagon roads, rivers and topography. The maps are still bound into the 263 pp. guide which describes the "notable views" along the various railroads routes from the east, as well as information regarding climate, places to visit and distance tables. Published by John Hittell in San Francisco. Hardbound in green cloth with gilt title on front cover.
Maps are good to very good with some light toning primarily along the folds and several fold separations that have been closed on verso with archival tape. Contents are very good with light toning and a few pen notations. The covers show light wear.
