The map is filled with superb detail of towns, cities, markets, universities, and meticulously rendered topography. The map is decorated with title and distance scale cartouches and the royal coats-of-arms of both Scotland and Britain. The title cartouche is flanked by the mythical figures of Mercury (messenger of the gods) and Ceres (symbolizing abundance).
