This interesting engraving illustrates the narrow strait that connects the Aegean Sea to the Sea of Marmara. The Dardanelles, vital to the defense of Constantinople, are lined with massive fortifications. The skyline of Constantinople is in the background and a numbered key provided information on 20 important sites within the view.
