1) Breknoke Both Shyre and Towne described, by John Speed, Theatre of the Empire of Great Britain, dated 1610, imprint of Bassett & Chiswell, published in 1676. A very decorative map with the large cartouches, coats of arms and inset plans that distinguish Speed's county maps. Includes an inset bird's-eye plan of Breknoke with the arms of James Butler, Earle of Breknoke, plus three other coats of arms, and an early battle scene. English text on verso. (20 x 15.1") The centerfold has been professionally repaired with a small area of replaced paper just above Glamorgan. Remnants of mounting hinges on verso.

2) Brecknoc Comitatus pars olim Silurum, by Saxon/Kip, Camden's Britannia, circa 1610. An early map of the county of Brecknokeshire engraved by William Kip and based upon the famous survey by Christopher Saxton. It is fully engraved to illustrate all the salient features of the county including market towns, forests, parks, hills and bridges. Decorated with large strapwork title and scale cartouches. (12.3 x 10.5") There is printer's ink residue in the map, otherwise it is in very good condition. Mounting tape hinge remnants on verso.
