This delicately engraved map details the Southwest during that short period between the end of the Mexican/American War and the Gadsden Purchase. The Southwest is Nouvelle Californie with its southern border along the Gila River. The new state of Texas is shown as part of the United States, Central America is Guatemala and the Baja is Vieille Californie. Each state of Mexico is outlined in pale yellow hand coloring. Surrounded by a ruled border while the titling features fancy flourishes.
