Ortelius based this fine map of the Persian Empire in part on Gastaldi's 1564 map of Asia Minor and on his own 1567 map of Asia. The map is filled with village and city names. Decorative elements include large strap work title cartouche and a distance scale surmounted by a strange bestiary creature. Latin text on verso with page number 64 indicates this map was published in 1574, an early edition of Theatrum.

The map image is near fine with crisp, dark impression and fine coloring on a full sheet with wide margins. A little marginal soiling and some margin tears closed on verso with tissue.
