This is one of the most beautiful plate books on the United States ever produced. Includes forty-seven beautifully rendered, steel engraved views and more than 500 wood engravings, many full-page. Works by Thomas Moran, Harry Fenn, Granville Perkins, and other important American artists of the 19th century. Two volumes with matching leather bindings. Hardbound, in full leather, gilt titles with raised bands on spine. Volume I - 568 pp., Volume II - 576 pp.
Plates and text pages good to very good with a hint of toning along the outer edges of the pages only. Endpapers have some extraneous creases. The covers and spines are a bit scuffed, but otherwise sound. The bindings are tight and sound.
