This volume contains 23 fine, steel engraved plates by Bartlett. Included are Third Court of the Serai Bournou; Court and Fountain of St. Sophia; The Atmeidan, or Hippodrome; Straits of the Bosphorus; Aggstein Castle; Mosque of Sultan Valide; Sebastopol; and Neuburg. Bartlett's engravings were immensely popular and are widely admired for their beauty. Authored by Julia Pardoe and published by George Virtue. No title page or other initial text pages, as these were contained only in volume one. Pages are from 69 to 116, missing the folding map. Hardbound original in embossed red cloth with gilt illustration on front and back covers, gilt title on spine and gilt foredges (T.E.G.).

Text and plates generally good with variable foxing. Several plates are loose, and all have original tissue guards. Covers with light soiling and minor shelf wear.
