This woodblock "modern" map of central Europe presents the region with distorted Ptolemaic outlines and shows mountains in a typical rope-like shape. In this map, Fries has added a vignette of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, not included in Waldsemuller's model. This edition was published in Vienna by Gaspar Trechsel. Latin text on verso.
