"Carte Reduite de la Cote du Bresil…", Depot de la Marine
Period: 1826 (dated)
Color: Black & White
23.7 x 35.5 inches
60.2 x 90.2 cm
A detailed chart of the coast of Brazil from Marajo Island at the mouth of the Amazon to Catarina Island, noting Rio de Janeiro among the many cities along the coast. Prix Cinq Francs is located below the neatline and the imprint of the Depot de la Marine is located under the Avertissement. The embossed stamp for Dezauche printers in Paris is located in the upper left corner. The map is based on an expedition tracked by M.M. Givry along the coast in 1819 and 1820.
A little faint irregular toning in the map. There are some penciled ships tracks on the map that don't erase completely. The blank margins have some mildew and chipping.
