This is a scarce railroad map and timetable brochure, dated September 1888. The map shows the entire United States and includes a large inset of Florida, showing both the California Cheap Excursions and the Florida Tourists Route. The Queen & Crescent routes are shown with red overprinting. On the verso are fourteen panels of timetables for numerous affiliated railroads and routes including the Mobile & Ohio; Chicago and St. Louis; California and Mexico; and Two Routes to Texas. The map folds into supremely decorative and colorful paper covers with roses and orange blossoms and fancy lettering all printed in four colors. The covers are 4" x 8.5" with title panels on both sides. One side is "Popular and Limited Express Route South to Southern California (No Snow - No Ice) Only 25 ½ Hours between Cincinnati & New Orleans. Direct Connections with Southern Pacific and Texas Pacific RRs…" The other side is "Favorite and Quick Lines South to Georgia, Florida & Cuba through Mann Boudoir & Pullman Palace Buffet Cars between Cincinnati & Jacksonville…" A most handsome timetable.
